We have been hearing about the reports of Victory Venkatesh‘s Drushyam 2 skipping its theatrical release and arrive on Amazon Prime Video directly. India is on the verge of finishing the second wave and we may see the theater business opening very soon. But then, there is no official announcement about Drushyam 2 OTT Release as of now.
At one time, Venkatesh thought of releasing ‘Drushyam 2’ first on the OTT space and then release his other film, Narappa in theaters. But we are told that things have changed now. Narappa will be one of the first films in the Telugu film industry to release in theaters after the first wave. It will be followed by the OTT release of Drushyam 2 after two or three months.
If that is the case, Drushyam 2 will be the first Telugu biggie to release directly online when the theaters are open. Drushyam 2 comes from Suresh Productions who owns a significant number of theaters in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. That indicates the OTT will thrive irrespective of the Pandemic. It is more or less a testimony for OTT from Suresh Productions, one of the biggest production houses in the country.
