Mani Ratnam‘s magnam opus project film Ponniyin Selvan, based on the famous historical novel by legendary writer Kalki, is hitting theaters worldwide on the 30th of this month. The film, which is being prepared with an investment of 500 crores, is jointly produced by Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions. In 1958, MGR tried to make a film based on Kalki’s novel. But later he abandoned that plan. Mani Ratnam started work on this movie in 2012. But the project got delayed due to financial problems.
In the 10th century, the ongoing crises and dangers faced by the Chola Emperor’s throne and the battles between the army, enemies and traitors are depicted in the film. The cast of Ponniyin Selvan includes Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Rahman, Prabhu, Sarath Kumar, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lakshmi, Prakash Raj, Lal, Vikram Prabhu, Parthipan, Babu Antony, Ashwin Kakumanu, Riaz Khan, Sobhita Dulipala and Jayaram. AR Rahman is the music composer.
The promotional works of the Ponniyin Selvan will start tomorrow from Tanjore. After visiting the temple in Tanjore, other programs will take place.It is known that the actors of the film, Vikram, Trisha, Vikram Prabhu, Karthi etc. will participate in this event. The producers have decided to promote the Telugu version in a better way. Hence, the actors may spend more time in the Andhra Telangana regions in the coming days.
