And finally after a long wait the trailer of Mani Ratnam’s much awaited ‘Ponniyin Selvan: Part One’ is here and it’s everything grand. The multi starrer epic drama ‘Ponniyin Selvan: Part One’ will release in cinemas on 30th September, 2022 in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
‘Ponniyin Selvan: part One’ trailer justifies the hype created for the epic historical war drama. From complicated and twisted politics, intricate conspiracies, pride and lust for the throne, to frightening religious/cult rituals there’s a lot going on in the magnificent world of the Cholas.
It’s those colossal war scenes, one on one sword fights, battles in the water and more that raise the anticipation for the grand affair ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’ is going to be. The raw Royalty of the Cholas oozes in every frame of the trailer.
Written, directed and co-produced by Mani Ratnam, ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is the story of the early days of Arunmozhi Varman who later became the great Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola I. The film is Ratnam’s dream project and has an ensemble cast of Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Lal, Sarath Kumar, Jayaram, Vikram Prabhu, Prabhu, Ashwin Kakumanu, Kishore and Aishwarya Lekshmi among others.
Musical maestro A. R. Rahman will compose the music for the film. While Ravi Varman is handling the film’s cinematography, its editing is done by Sreekar Prasad. Allirajah Subaskaran via Lyca Productions is producing the magnum opus alongside Ratnam’s Madras Talkies. B. Jeyamohan has co-written the film.
Based on the eponymous 1955 novel by Kalki Krishnamurthy, the first out of two parts, multi-starrer pan Indian film ‘Ponniyin Selvan: Part One’ will release in cinemas in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada on 30th September, 2022.
