Fans of S. S. Rajamouli cannot wait to watch his highly-anticipated period action drama, RRR, in theatres. The movie was set to dispatch on January 7 this year. However, the sudden surge in COVID cases and restrictions on cinema due to the ongoing pandemic forced the makers to postpone its release at that time. Now, it has found a new release date, March 25. Along with releasing in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and other Indian languages, the film will also come out in IMAX, Dolby Cinema, and 3D formats. The latest post from the movie’s official Twitter account confirms this fantastic piece of news.
The makers of RRR have planned to dispatch their upcoming product in designated IMAX theatres globally. It is not the first Indian film to be released in the prominent IMAX format. Movies like Bang Bang, Dhoom 3, and Baahubali: The Conclusion also received the honour of an IMAX release during their respective theatrical runs.
RRR is set to become the helmer’s most expensive project with an estimated budget of 400 crores. The film’s release has suffered multiple setbacks due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
We all know how the magnetic duo of Rajamouli and legendary screenwriter K. V. Vijayendra Prasad worked their charm in both Baahubali movies. And the fans are expecting them to recreate the same magic with RRR as they did with these blockbusters. Additionally, the latter also penned down the script of Salman Khan’s highest grossing project, Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
Apart from having NTR Jr and Ram Charan, RRR’s cast treasures Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Olivia Morris, Ray Stevenson, Shriya Saran, Alison Doody, Samuthirakani, and many more stellar performers in its cast. Pen Studios is handling the movie’s distribution in North India. On the other hand, the same job is being carried out by Lyca Productions and KVN Productions in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka respectively. It is set for a worldwide release on March 25. Stay tuned for more updates.
