Rajamouli Taking A Major Risk With RRR Premieres In India?

SS Rajamouli is super confident about his forthcoming theatrical outing RRR which has Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt, and Ajay Devgn in central roles. The film is releasing amidst sky high buzz and anticipation. As the periodic action drama gears up for worldwide theatrical release on the 7th of January 2022, the unit is proactively promoting the film.

The latest we hear is that the makers of RRR are planning to hold early premieres for RRR not just in the overseas circuit but also in the domestic circuit. It is heard that the premiere shows in Hyderabad might commence as early as 6 PM on the 6th of January. This would be an unprecedented feat for a Telugu biggie. The makers of the Jr NTR and Ram Charan starrer are said to be orchestrating these early premieres in order to rake up massive revenues right on the opening day.

As exciting as it may sound, the early premieres prospect has a certain degree of risk attached to it. It is all good if the film opens to a unanimously positive response. But if it doesn’t, any kind of negative word of mouth might in turn affect the film’s openings on the corresponding day. Previously something similar happened with Baahubali 1. The film opened to rather mixed reviews following the early morning shows but luckily, it could go on to gain momentum in the due course.

Needless to say, the makers would have called for the early premieres only if they are fully confident about the output. But they have indeed taken a risky decision of sorts.
