Trailer Talk: A Period Masala Drama With Action, Dialoguebaazi And Lots Of Politics

The trailer of new MX Player series Rakthanchal is out. Right from the first promo material a bloody tale was promised, it is precisely what we get in the full-blown trailer.

If the opening few seconds reminded you of the classic Gangs Of Wasseypur, don’t worry, you are not alone. Whatever happens in the rest of the trailer only cements the opinion.

Raktanchal is a raw and rustic tale of bloody power politics that is seen in the hinterlands of northern India. Here it is set in the tender mafia space of Uttar Pradesh. The setting of eighties, Ghazipur –crime capital of the state, only adds to the intrigue and fun. The casting and dialogues look in tune with the tone making the whole thing spicy and entertaining.

Everyone seems to have fun playing the characters, on-screen and it rubs off on the viewers, as well. It all looks fine in the Gangs of Wasseypur, Mirzapur and other similar hinterland stuff terrain. Eventually, it is the depth in story and performance that would determine the success.

Check out the trailer below. Kranti Prakash Jha, Nikitin Dheer, Vikram Kochchar, and Soundarya Sharma etc. play the main roles in the series. Ritam Srivastav directs Raktanchal. The show will stream on MX Player from May 28th.

Siddartha Toleti: Perennially besotted with movies, I can’t imagine a day going by without watching one. Passion led to film reviews. The evolution has brought me on the digital platform. Alternatively, I love listening to music from the golden era of Hindi cinema, and Maestro Ilaiyaraja.
