Richa Chadha and Ronit Roy are all set to headline ‘Candy’, Voot Select’s latest upcoming series. ‘Candy’ is a brand new mystery thriller show all set to launch on Voot Select on 8th September, 2021.
Set in a picturesque place called Rudrakund, ‘Candy’ revolves around the murder mystery of Mehul Awasthi, a young student, who was found dead in the jungles of Rudrakund. The incharge of the investigation of this seemingly unnatural and brutal murder is Ratna Sankhawar (Richa Chadha), DSP of Rudrakund.
Her investigation begins with questioning Mehul’s three schoolmates who used to bully him as told by Mehul’s mentor (Ronit Roy). These boys are scared to hell as they have their own secrets to hide. They have lost a packet of drugs and with the growing suspicion on them after Mehul’s death, they are scared of both White Rabbit and the police.
White Rabbit is a drug dealer and in Rudrakund an underground drug nexus operates that supplies drugs to children by mixing it in candies. While White Rabbit gets questioned by DSP Ratna she is also suspicious about Mehul’s mentor who she thinks is too emotional about his death.
On the other hand according to a local belief, jungles of Rudrakund are haunted by a supernatural being called Masaan who kills children who takes drugs and go into the jungle. But Mehul’s mentor knows there’s something bigger going on and Masaan and Candy is linked somehow.
The series also has a political angle to it as Money Ranaut (Manu Rishi Chadha) an influential man has control over a lot of things in the city. Mehul’s mentor gives evidence to DSP and trusts her to carry out an impartial investigation but Ranaut’s influence over the police starts to make him think otherwise. While he thought it was his duty to unravel the secret behind the mystery, it seems it doesn’t matter anymore.
There’s power, fear, thrill, mystery, suspense and much more going on Voot’s brand new original series ’Candy’ that looks quite intriguing. The setting of the show in a snow covered mountainous region sets that perfect chilling feel to this mysteriously thrilling show.
‘Candy’ on Voot Select stars a talented cast including Richa Chadha, Ronit Roy, Manu Rishi Chadha, Gopal Dutt Tiwari, Nakul Roshan Sahdev and Riddhi Kumar in prominent roles. Directed by Ashish R. Shukla, the series is produced by Wakoo Films, Vipul D Shah, Rajesh Bahl, Ashwin Varde and Optimystix.
‘Candy’ will premiere on Voot Select on 8th September, 2021.
