It’s official! The CW’s Riverdale has begun production for its seventh and final chapter. Ted Sullivan, one of the show’s writers and executive producers, took to Instagram to share the news. The post shows the slate of the first shot of Season 7 with the caption, “Can’t believe we’re actually here. But such a great season is coming. Can’t wait for you all to see.”
Sullivan also thanked the entire Riverdale universe and creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa in his post for taking the show to a whole new level of global prominence.
Season 6 had many flaws. Yet, it managed to deliver quite a cliffhanger in the finale. We all watched our beloved gang bringing down Percival Pickens (Chris O’Shea) and returning him to the time in which he belonged. However, Percival had one last trick to pull off as he re-routed a comet towards Riverdale. Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) utilised all her powers to destroy the comet. However, that incident sends all the residents of Riverdale back in time to the year 1955. Jughead (Cole Sprouse) remains the only member of the gang who remembers what actually happened.
We do not know about the plot details of Season 7 as they are under wraps. But that time jump will indeed affect the gang, along with the entire town, in a big way.
Riverdale debuted on The CW in January 2017. Soon, it arrived on Netflix and quickly became one of the most-watched shows on the streaming platform.
The makers are yet to reveal the release window for Riverdale Season 7. But we can expect it to come out in mid-2023. It stars KJ Apa, Cole Sprouse, Camila Mendes, Madelaine Petsch, Lili Reinhart, Casey Cott, Vanessa Morgan, Charles Melton, and many more. Aguirre-Sacasa will serve as the writer of the final season’s premiere episode with Ronald Paul Richard at the helm. All six seasons are available on Netflix. Stay tuned for more updates.
