A few days back, there was a report about Zee Group bagging the Digital Rights of SS Rajamouli‘s magnum opus film, RRR in all languages. But there is a twist in the tale. Zee5 has the rights to Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada languages while Netflix walks away with the Hindi rights.
Netflix further also bags the Digital streaming rights of the movie for English, Portuguese, Korean, Turkish, and Spanish languages. This is also an indication of the vast reach the movie is going to get. This is a never-before announcement for any film of Indian Cinema before its release.
Star Group bagged the Satellite rights of the movie for Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada versions while Zee cinema holds the Hindi rights. Asianet bagged the Malayalam rights. After offloading all the rights, Pen Studios will be still left with the Hindi theatrical rights of the film and they will be distributing the film in Hindi across the country.
This is a vast indication of the craze RRR commands in Indian cinema and it will only get bigger as the release draws closer. RRR is announced for October 13th release and the makers are still hoping that they can make it by then. But then with the COVID second wave still around, we never know.
