What was known to many through informal means has now become official, the release of SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR has been delayed indefinitely! Makers took to social media to give this latest update about RRR, the post production work for which is nearly complete.
Moreover the work on RRR was moving according to the set timeline for Dussehra release, then what resulted in this postponement? Well the reason is obvious and isn’t something new, especially for the past year and half or so.
With the ongoing pandemic not going anywhere anytime soon, theatres have been hit hard and their reopening at full capacity is nowhere in sight. And this very reason of indefinite closure of cinemas has caused the delay of RRR. Although to keep the hopes up for fans, team RRR has said that it will release the film at the earliest date possible when the world cinema markets are up and running.
Post production nearly done to have #RRRMovie ready by October’21.
But as known to many, we are postponing the release but cannot announce a new date with theatres indefinitely closed.

The question that now arises is, what will be the future for RRR after this latest update? Given the current scenario with Diwali and Christmas 2021 dates locked by big titles like Rajnikanth’s ‘Annaatthe’ and Allu Arjun’s ’Pushpa – The Rise’ respectively, RRR might push for a 2022 release.
In that case too, the more sought after release dates like festivals, holidays etc. are booked. As generally known, tentpole films with a multi star cast often opt for such dates to attract audience, the makers will have to very finely plan out RRR’s release to either avoid clash or even if there’s one it should be with a film they are sure to beat at the box office.
On the other hand the big Dussehra slot for this year is now open after RRR pulling out and no update on Ajay Devgn’s Maidaan. As reported earlier, this leaves open a huge opportunity for Vishal and Arya’s action entertainer ‘Enemy’ releasing on 14th October, 2021.
Directed by Anand Shankar and produced by Vinod Kumar Via Mini Studios, ‘Enemy’ will now have a solo release in theatres this Dussehra, a big holiday for the entire country and more specially in southern states.
Coming back to RRR, the future looks a little more complex for the epic film now, given the tight theatre schedule for the time to come extending until next year. With some huge titles like Anaatthe, Pushpa – The Rise, Radhe Shyam, Sarkaru Vaari Paata, KGF Chapter 2, Salaar and more already lined up where will Ram Charan, NTR Jr, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn starrer RRR find its place?
