S2 Of This Hit Show Signs National Award Winner Director, Real-Life IAS Officer And More!

Netflix‘s popular crime drama series Delhi Crime debuted in 2019 and has garnered praise from everywhere. The series which followed the aftermath of the high profile case of Nirbhaya was positively received by everyone. The managed to show the real and raw emotions and the credit for that goes toform of brilliant acting by the whole star cast.

Fans loved the show very much and were excited and curious about the second season and whether or not it will have a second season. Well for all of them who were wondering, The second season of Delhi Crime is in production with many of the cast members returning to reprise their roles.

Delhi Crime was based on the 2012 Delhi Rape Case which grew nationwide attention. The incident was so horrific that it is and will be watched in the minds of every Indian. Now since the story of first season ended on a satisfactory note with Rapists getting arrested and thus the makers have decided to foray into the same path and create an anthology show with new true crime setting in every season but with the same core cast.
It is being told that the makers are eyeing for real life cases which created a nationwide attention like Arushi Talvar murder case for an example. The setting of the show will be Delhi Gurgaon belt and thus we might witness cases from there.

What’s New In Season 2?

Well plenty of things will be new in season 2 and the biggest one will be the appointment of the new director. Yes you heard that right, Delhi Crime season 1 director Richie Mehta has been replaced with the award winning director Rajesh Mapuskar. Mapuskar has won the National Award for Best Director for his Marathi film, Ventilator. He has also worked as an assistant director with Rajkumar Hirani in several of his projects.

It is being reported that Season 2 will have a real IAS officer Abhishek Singh in the cast. He is currently posted as a deputy commissioner in New Delhi.

Cast

Talking about the cast then there is a relied for you fans as the core cast of the show is supposed to be back for the second season. So we’ll see :-

Shefali Shah, Adil Hussain, Rasika Duggal, Rajesh Tailang, Gopal Dutt, Sanjay Bishnoi and Denzil Smith returning.

Release date

The show’s production is almost completed with some minor shoots and dubbing left and once it gets completed there will be an official announcement regarding the release date of the show. If we had to guess then our best bet for the show to have a release will either be at the end of 2020. Or in early 2021.
