Shahid Kapoor‘s ‘Jersey’ may not have done too well at the box office. But whoever did watch the film in the theatres appreciated the film no end. Shahid Kapoor especially earned accolades for his stellar acting in Jersey. Some even labelled it the best acting of his career, better than even Kabir Singh and Jab We Met. Discerning viewers praised the emotional depth of the film, and the overwhelming sentiments of it.
But now, everyone can watch Jersey, and that too, in the comfort of their homes. Jersey will release on OTT, and as early as this week! Jersey releases on Netflix this Friday, on May 20. For those who don’t know, Shahid Kapoor’s film ‘Jersey’ is the official Hindi remake of Nani’s Telugu film of the same name.
Jersey released in the theatres on April 22. After enjoying an exclusive 4-week theatrical window, the film will now premiere on Netflix on 20th May, exactly 28 days after its theatrical release. Films releasing on OTT after a four-week theatrical window has become somewhat of a norm in the entertainment industry; unless the film is doing extremely well (as in the case of RRR), or extremely poorly (as in the case of Acharya).
Jersey is the story of a talented but failed cricketer who returns to the sport in his late thirties in order to realise his potential, as well as to fulfil his son’s wish for a Jersey as a gift. Jersey is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri. It also stars Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapoor in crucial roles.
