Whew! After a year-long break, the season finale of the fifth season of ‘Billions‘ (which streams on Disney+ Hotstar), finally dropped last night and it blew everybody’s minds… well, everyone who follows the TV series, that is. Due to the pandemic, the production of the fifth season of Billions was stalled; hence the long wait period. But have no fear, the sixth season has already been announced. It is dropping on Disney+ Hotstar in under 4 months. What’s even better is that there is a teaser out already, for this upcoming season. Check it out at the end of this article:
The first part of season five of Billions dropped on May 3rd 2020, which stopped after its seventh episode on June 14th 2020. Over a year later, the series dropped the remaining five episodes, starting from September 5th 2021 till last night, October 3rd 2021. But the funny thing is, the sixth season is dropping in 4 months (as mentioned earlier), by the end of Jan 2022 – making the season 5 mid-break three times longer than the season break (between seasons 5 & 6). Wow. Still, we are grateful to have the next season of Billions ready for viewing in a few months (and not after a year).
Avid fans of the show may be in dismay because of the departure of the series lead, Damian Lewis – but that has been coming for some time now. The actor was planning to step away from the series for a while now, and the recent news has only accelerated those plans. After his wife recently passed away, Lewis has decided to step away to take some time for his family.
As mentioned earlier, the season finale of Billions season 5 dropped on Disney+ Hotstar last night. This means all five seasons are currently available for streaming on the same OTT platform.
The sixth season of Billions will premier next year, on 23rd January 2022 on Disney+ Hotstar.
