SonyLIV is churning out a prolific number of shows, each one a compelling watch. Its next is a dark family drama, titled ‘Tabbar’, slated to release soon on the platform. For those not in the know, ‘Tabbar‘ is a colloquial Punjabi term for the word, ‘family’. SonyLIV has just released a teaser – trailer for the show, which is dark, dismal and hypnotic.
To be honest, nothing really happens in the trailer. But there’s a whole lot of blood. More than half the shots in the trailer feature the ominous darkness of blood – spilt on the floor, smeared on the hands of one of the protagonists, angry splotches of red, hinting that ‘Tabbar’ will be a dark, edgy story.
We see glimpses of a happy family, content in its middle-classness; and then the shattering of that content when the family gets embroiled in an undisclosed trouble. Supriya Pathak and Pavan Malhotra play the elderly heads of the family. Ranvir Shorey, Gagan Arora, Sahil Mehta, Paramveer Cheema, Nupur Nagpal, and Kanwaljit Singh comprise the rest of the cast.
Tabbar is said to be a family thriller, and is directed by Ajit Pal Singh, written by Harman Wadala and produced by JAR Pictures.
Says Supriya Pathak about her role in the series, “I have always worked with characters that tell a story and Sargun’s character tells a story of a strong woman who loves her family unconditionally. She may be a coy, demure middle-class woman, but when it comes to her family’s safety, she fights against all odds to protect them. Tabbar revolves around this beautiful family who support each other in times of trouble and how they survive the unknown by standing together.”
The release date for Tabbar hasn’t been announced yet, but will begin streaming on SonyLIV soon.
