Sooryavanshi At The Cusp Of Making History, If Only It Embraces Its Potential!

Sooryavanshi At The Cusp Of Making History, If Only It Embraces Its Potential!

Sooryavanshi is the only completed Bollywood film, big or small, that has still not announced its release date. Radhe, 83, Shershah, Prithviraj, Shamshera, Thalaivi, Satyameva Jayate – every complete film or about-to-be-completed film has put aside their Covid-19 fears, and gone on to announce their theatrical release dates. All, except Sooryavanshi.

Today we are here to remind Sooryavanshi and its makers of just one thing – one important thing that they seem to have overlooked. Sooryavanshi is at the cusp of making history, if only it embraces its potential. What history and what potential, you may ask. Well, the potential to turn around the struggling Hindi film industry; the potential to restore Bollywood to its former glory; the potential to do a “Master” for Bollywood – that is, do what Master did for the South film industry.

The next obvious question is how. Stay with us as we reveal our reasons for saying so.

The box office collections of this week’s release Roohi are just about average. Mumbai Saga releases in a couple of weeks, and it promises to have a decent run at the ticket window. But the film that can really set the cash registers clanging (not just ringing, mind you) at theatres is undoubtedly “Sooryavanshi”.

Sooryavanshi is an exciting and alluring proposition for several reasons. For one, it is a Rohit Shetty film – hence, thrills guaranteed. Secondly, the promise of watching Akshay Kumar perform mind-blowing action set-pieces in slow motion – the hallmark of Rohit Shetty films – is mouth-watering. Laxmii was a downer, but Sooryavanshi will present Akshay Kumar exactly the way audiences love to watch him – kicking ass and showing off swag.

Thirdly, Sooryavanshi has a unique premise – it introduces the concept of a film universe – leveraging previous films of the same genre, by the same filmmaker to give a nostalgia-driven pop culture kick. Sooryavanshi leverages Rohit Shetty’s previous Singham and Simbba, to present his own exciting cop universe, or copverse. Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh return as Singham and Simbba for Sooryavanshi. How cool is that!

Sooryavanshi is jointly produced by Reliance Entertainment, Rohit Shetty Pictures, Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Akshay Kumar’s Cape Of Good Films. Sooryavanshi releasing sometime in April will do for the Hindi film industry what did for South cinemas – revive the film business, bring in the moolah, and sing, “Happy days are here again”!

Buzz is rife on the ground that 14th March, it being Rohit Shetty’s birthday, will bring some announcement regarding the theatrical release of Sooryavanshi. On the other hand is the OTT release rumour for Sooryavanshi that threatens to dampen our spirits. We hope the buzz is true and the theatrical release date for Sooryavanshi is announced finally!

Stay tuned to Binged.com for fresh updates on the release date of Sooryavanshi.
