‘Spider-Man: Into The Spider Verse’ Sequel To Be Helmed By This Brand New Trio!

Spider-Man: Into The Spider Verse‘ sequel has got a new set of directors on board. Sony Pictures Animation has roped in Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson, who will join Joaquim Dos Santos in directing the sequel to the Academy Award winning animated film ‘Spider-Man: Into The Spider Verse’.

As per reports, although earlier only Dos Santos’ name was revealed as ‘Spider-Man: Into The Spider Verse’ sequel director, all three of them have been jointly working on the much anticipated project.

All the three directors attached with the yet to be titled sequel animation feature film have some huge credits to their names. Taking about Powers he recently received an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay for ‘One Night In Miami’. His other notable works include multi-award winning Pixar’s ‘Soul’ and ‘Star Trek: Discovery’.

As for Thompson, this sequel will be his first film as a director, but he is known for his incredible work as production designer of Sony Animation’s ‘Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs’, ‘Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2’ and the first Spider-Verse film. ‘Spider-Man: Into The Spider Verse’ sequel will also mark feature début for Dos Santos who has previously directed animated television shows like Warner Bros.’ ‘Justice League Unlimited’,DreamWorks Animation’s ‘Voltron’, Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender’ and ‘The Legend of Korra’.

‘Spider Verse’ sequel will be produced by Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad and Christina Steinberg with Alonzo Ruvalcaba serving as co-producer. Peter Ramsey and Aditya Sood Will executive produce the film. Lord and Miller alongside David Callaham (‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’) will serve as credited screenwriters.

The untitled ‘Spider-Man: Into The Spider Verse’ sequel is scheduled for theatrical release on 7th October, 2022.
