‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Final Runtime Reveals a Disturbing Fact

By Binged Bureau - Dec 04, 2021 @ 12:12 pm
‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Final Runtime Reveals a Disturbing Fact

The hype around Tom Holland’s next Spider-Man film ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ is at an all-time high, especially as the highly anticipated superhero movie approaches its release date. Amidst a spate of exhilarating rumors, persistent speculations, and numerous fan theories, one thing about the film has now been confirmed. And that’s the movie’s final runtime.

Spider-Man: No Way Home’ will purportedly have a final runtime of 150 minutes, that is two-and-a-half hours including the credits, as per a recent report by Collider. This makes it the longest Spider-Man movie ever and the third-longest Marvel movie (after ‘Avengers: Endgame’ and ‘Eternals’).

Comparing the 150 minutes runtime of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ with earlier live-action Spider-Man movies can give us a better picture. Tom Holland’s first solo Spider-Man venture ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ was 133 minutes long. While its sequel ‘Spider-Man: Far from Home’ had a runtime of 129 minutes.

Sam Raimi’s first ‘Spider-Man’ (2002) movie featuring Tobey Maguire ran for merely 121 minutes. While his next two films namely ‘Spider-Man 2’ and ‘Spider-Man 3’ were 127 minutes and 139 minutes long, respectively.

Coming to Marc Webb’s films ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ and ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ starring Andrew Garfield as the titular web-slinger, the runtime for these two movies was 136 minutes and 141 minutes.

An interesting (and perhaps disturbing) fact from the runtimes of all Spider-Man movies, that comes to the fore, is that the two longest Spider-Man films until now namely ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ and ‘Spider-Man 3’ – are also considered by many as the weakest ‘Spider-Man’ movies till date.

Whereas one of most loved – Sam Raimi’s first ‘Spider-Man’ movie is the shortest. Does that mean shorter and crisper Spider-Man films have higher chances of critical and commercial success?

Well, not necessarily. Fans need not worry about it because the underlying premise of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ directed by Jon Watts revolves around the intriguing concept of the multiverse. The film also marks the comeback of Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, earlier Spider-Man villains namely Green Goblin, Doc Ock, The Lizard, Sandman, and Electro alongside the rumored appearance of earlier Spider-Man versions essayed by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.

With numerous villains and multiple Spider-Mans under the ambit of the complex multiverse and vying for screen space, the 150 minutes runtime of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ seems to be quite justified. On the contrary, a shorter film might not have done justice to the film’s expansive storyline and myriad characters.

We believe all Spider-Man fans are totally geared up for the multiverse madness as ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ releases in Indian theatres on 16th December 2021.
