We at Binged had earlier informed our readers about upcoming multi-starrer show ‘Kaun Banega Shikharwati’ in the works at Applause Entertainment and Emmay Entertainment. Now, we bring you news about the release date of the show, along with the OTT platform where it will stream. The comedy drama will premiere on ZEE5 some time in January 2022. ZEE5 took to its social media handles to post a quirky teaser for the show, along with the tentative release date.
‘Kaun Banega Shikharwati’ boasts a star-studded cast, comprising some of the best actors in Indian entertainment. Naseeruddin Shah stars as Raja Mrityunjay, King of an erstwhile princely state in Rajasthan. Raghubir Yadav plays his bumbling Munim, Mishra ji. Cyrus Sahukar stars in an undisclosed role. Raja Mrityunjay has four daughters, all with quirks of their own. Lara Dutta, Anya Singh and Kritika Kamra play three of his daughters. Soha Ali Khan plays the fourth daughter. She will make her digital debut with ‘Kaun Banega Shikharwati’.
Interestingly, the show was earlier titled ‘Kaun Banega Shekhawati’, which has now become ‘Kaun Banega Shikharwati’. Maybe the makers didn’t want grief over the use of ‘Shekhawati’, a large real-life region in Rajasthan. After witnessing ruckus over Mirzapur, and several other controversies, maybe the makers thought it best to stick with fictional names. The show was also rumoured to premiere on Disney Plus Hotstar. Guess, either the show has changed hands or the update was mere speculation.
‘Kaun Banega Shikharwati’ is produced by filmmaker Nikkhil Advani and content specialist, Sameer Nair, under their individual production houses, Emmay Entertainment and Applause Entertainment respectively. Applause Entertainment, as you must know, is the content production arm of the Aditya Birla Group.
This will be Naseeruddin Shah’s second show after Prime Video’s Bandish Bandits. Kaun Banega Shikharwati is reportedly based on the hit 2015 Marathi film, Rajwade And Sons. Kaun Banega Shikharwati has been directed by Gauravv K Chawla, who made his debut with the Bollywood flick Bazaar, starring Saif Ali Khan and Radhika Apte.
