Emraan Hashmi made his digital debut back in 2019 with the Netflix web series ’Bard of Blood’ but ‘Dybbuk’ will be his first direct-to-digital feature film. Remake of the hit Malayalam film ‘Ezra’, ‘Dybbuk’ is a supernatural horror thriller film that will now release on Amazon Prime Video.
The film was announced as part of Amazon’s new releases this festive season today but the talks for the same have been doing rounds for quite a time now as we had reported a little while ago. Going by the announcement ‘Dybbuk’ will release on Amazon Prime Video some time around late October to early November, though there is no officially set date for the same.
Other than Emraan, ‘Dybbuk’ also stars Nikita Dutta, Darshana Banik, Manav Kaul and Vipin Sharma in prominent roles. Jay Krishnan, who directed the original Malayalam version starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Priya Anand, will also helm the Hindi remake. ‘Dybbuk’ has been bankrolled by Bhushan and Krishan Kumar of T-Series, and Abhishek and Kumar Mangat Pathak.
Emraan Hashmi has been busy lately and in the buzz for more than one reason. His Amitabh Bachchan co-starrer ‘Chehre’ released in theatres, then there’s ‘Tiger 3’ in which he will be sharing screen with Salman Khan, his cameo in Alia Bhatt starrer Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ and now ‘Dybbuk’ going for digital release on Amazon Prime Video.
All the titles scheduled for festive release on Amazon Prime Video include ‘Bhramam’, Malayalam remake of ‘Andhadhun’; two Tamil films – Suriya’s ‘Jai Bhim’ and Sasikumar and Jytotika’s ‘Udanpirappe’; two Hindi films – Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Udham Singh’ and Emraan Hashmi’s ‘Dybbuk’; Dev Patel’s ‘The Green Knight’ and three Amazon Original series – ‘ Maradona: Blessed Dream’, ‘One Mic Stand Season 2’ and ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’.
