‘Thappad’ actress Taapsee Pannu seems to be continuing her tryst with OTT platforms. Her recent films ‘Haseen Dillruba’, ‘Rashmi Rocket’, and ‘Annabelle Sethupathi’ got their OTT releases on the Netflix, Zee5, and Disney+ Hotstar streaming platforms respectively. And now, her forthcoming film ‘Looop Lapeta’ is all set for its OTT release soon on the Netflix OTT platform. Netflix India’s official Twitter handle has just revealed this info via an announcement video that alludes to the film’s basic theme and to a certain extent, its underlying premise.

Helmed by Aakash Bhatia in his feature film directorial debut, ‘Looop Lapeta’ is an official Hindi language remake of the high concept German thriller film ‘Run Lola Run’. Besides Taapsee Pannu in the lead role, the film also features two other talented performers Tahir Raj Bhasin and Shreya Dhanwanthary in important roles. Ostensibly, the film was earlier expected to release in October 2021. Prior to ‘Looop Lapeta’, Aakash Bhatia had previously also directed some episodes of Amazon Prime Video’s sports drama Inside Edge’.
The visually aesthetic and gripping parent film ‘Run Lola Run’ came out in the year 1998 and revolved around the titular protagonist Lola and her desperate attempts to get hold of 100000 Deutschmarks (German currency) in order to save her small-time criminal boyfriend from getting into serious trouble. With just 20 minutes in hand, will Lola be able to get the money and save her boyfriend? That was the film’s underlying premise, albeit with a twist.
Taapsee Pannu is a busy actress nowadays. Her upcoming films’ slate includes Ajay Bahl’s directorial ‘Blurr’ co-starring Gulshan Devaiah, Prakash Raj’s ‘Tadka’ co-starring Ali Fazal, Anurag Kashyap’s thriller film ‘Dobaaraa’, ‘Woh Ladki Hai Kahaan’ co-starring Pratik Gandhi, and Indian women’s cricket captain Mithali Raj’s biopic ‘Shabaash Meethu’ helmed by Srijit Mukherji, amongst other acting projects.
