After the resounding success of their sports drama and comedy ‘Ted Lasso’ on Apple TV Plus, the creators of the show, Brett Goldstein and Bill Lawrence, return to the Apple TV Plus fold with a new comedy series. The new series is titled ‘Shrinking’, and it stars Jason Segel as a shrink who seems to have lost the plot.
Sitcom fans will know Jason Segel as Marshall from ‘How I Met Your Mother’. Segel will not only be the lead star in ‘Shrinking’ but will also write and executive produce the show. Both Brett Goldstein and Bill Lawrence will also serve as writers and executive producers for the new show.
‘Shrinking’ will be Jason Segel’s second project for Apple TV Plus, the first being Apple Original film, ‘The Sky Is Everywhere’, based on the bestseller novel of the same name by Jandy Nelson. For Apple TV Plus, ‘Shrinking’ will be the second show centred on the ‘bad therapy’ genre. It has ‘The Shrink Next Door’ premiering in November. Paul Rudd plays a shrewd shrink in the show, who manipulates his client out of his property and assets.
‘Shrinking’ centres on a grieving therapist (Jason Segel), who loses his patience with his clients, and—contrary to his training and the ethics of the practice—starts to tell them exactly what he thinks about them and their problems. His brusque plain-speaking engineers tumultuous changes to people’s lives, including his own.
‘Shrinking’ will be a ten-episode series. No release date for the show has been announced as yet.
