A Telugu film came unannounced mid-night yesterday on an OTT platform. It was only recently confirmed to have a digital release, and the promotions are currently going on.
The movie is Krishna And His Leela. The platform is Netflix. It started streaming from midnight (July 25th). However, the biggest surprise turned out to be the reception.
In the recent past, some of the well-promoted digital debuts turned out to be damp squibs on OTT. They were all thrashed critically (barring one, which was mixed). The last one was the worst of all, and the upcoming are facing the same with the trailer itself.
Under these circumstances, it is a pleasant surprise to even open with decent talk. It is precisely what has happened with Krishna And His Leela. The small budget Telugu movie starring young actors have come out trump, at least in the initial round. We have to see if it sustains, eventually or not.
Ravikanth Pererpu of Kshanam fame directs the movie. Siddhu, Shraddha Srinath, Seerat Kapoor, Shalani Vadnikatti, Harsha etc. play essential roles in the film. Sricharan Pakala provides the music. Suresh Productions, Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, and Sanjay Reddy jointly produce the young urban entertainer.
