Satyadev’s recently-released Telugu film ‘Godse‘ failed to set the cash registers ringing at the box office, despite audiences who watched the film liking and appreciating it. This has been the fate of most Telugu films in 2022, save for a few good hits in the Telugu film industry. It seems that Telugu film-going audiences have lost their desire to watch films in the theatres. The quick availability of films on OTT may have to play a part in this new scenario. The same thing seems to have happened with ‘Godse’.
As is the current trend in the entertainment industry, most films make their way to OTT around 28 days or 4 weeks after their theatrical run. Godse seems to be following the same pattern. Godse released in theatres on June 17. Now, the film will release on OTT exactly a month after its release in theatres. Streaming giant Netflix has bought the post-theatrical streaming rights of ‘Godse’. The film arrives on OTT, on Netflix, this Sunday, July 17th.
Godse stars Telugu actor Satyadev Kancharana in the lead role, alongside Aishwarya Lekshmi as the female lead. The film marks Aishwarya Lekshmi’s debut in Telugu cinema. The film is written and directed by Gopiganesh Pattabhi, and produced by C. Kalyan under the banner of CK Screens.
The plot of Godse follows a justice vigilante who has kidnapped several high profile police officials in his fight against corruption and the police-politician nexus. All he wants is that the educated youth of the country get decent jobs befitting their education, and to prevent politicians from looting public money.
Godse also stars Brahmaji, Tanikella Bharani, Nagendra Babu, Sijju Menon, Mathew Varghese, Prudhvi Raj, Noel Sean, Priyadarshi Pulikonda, Chaitanya Krishna, Pawan Santosh, Guru Charan, among others, in prominent roles.
Godse premieres on Netflix on July 17. Have a look at the trailer for the film here –
