Last week saw a major release by Netflix India. Thar starring Anil Kapoor and Harshvardhan Kapoor in the lead role is a neo-western which was filled with gore and clichéd story.
But Netflix ever since 26th April is dominated by Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi. So which movie impressed the audience?
Normally, a new title always brings more views than a relatively older one. But this is not the case here and Anil Kapoor’s latest venture was completely overshadowed by Alia Bhatt’s magical performance.
Fortunately, both films made it to the Global non-English top 10 but there is a huge difference between the two. Last week Gangubai Kathiawadi became the first Indian film to secure the first position in the list and this week there is a slight decline.
The film still maintained the third position globally with appreciable views.
Talking about Thar, it boasts the 9th position globally and third position globally. Interestingly, the fiasco of Radhe Shyam (Hindi) also sneaked into the list and clocked even more views than Thar.
It is surprising but the difference between the watch hours is not huge as Radhe Shyam secured the third position in the global list.
It is a big message for not only Netflix but the entertainment industry as a whole where the audience clearly says that “We want Good films”.
