SonyLIV has just revealed the first look and cast of its ambitious upcoming show, Rocket Boys, and both are lit. The show tells the story of the most eminent scientists produced by the country, Homi Bhabha, Vikram Sarabhai and APJ Abul Kalam, and how they come together to conceive, nurture and spearhead India’s nuclear and space program. Jim Sarbh (Sanju, Neerja) plays the role of Homi Bhabha; Ishwak Singh (Paatal Lok, Unpaused) plays Vikram Sarabhai; and upcoming actor Arjun Radhakrishnan (Love In The Time Of Corona) has apparently been cast to play APJ Abul Kalam.
Rocket Boys is produced by Nikkhil and Monisha Advani‘s Emmay Entertainment, in association with Siddharth Roy Kapur and his Roy Kapur Films. The narrative is set in the twentieth century, from the 1930s to the 1960s, and centres on the coming-of-age of two of the brightest minds of India – Vikram Sarabhai and Homi Bhabha. The narrative will deal with how each spearheaded their chosen branches of India’s scientific awakening – Homi Bhabha conceived and conceptualized India’s nuclear programme, while Vikram Sarabhai birthed and gave wings to the country’s space programme.
Rocket Boys will also shine a spotlight on how the two crossed paths and worked together to launch keen scientific temperament in the country. Since erstwhile president, APJ Abul Kalam, is an inseparable part of India’s scientific prowess in the sixties, his character will feature alongside the aforementioned stalwarts in Rocket Boys.
The series promises to be engrossing and engaging, and will enlighten the present generation on the accomplishments of India’s scientific legends, despite the odds heavily stacked against them. Who can forget the image of the components of India’s first rocket being transported to the rocket launch centre on a bicycle? Rocket Boys will be full of nuggets and gems of the aforementioned kind. Rocket Boys is created by Nikkhil Advani, and directed by Abhay Pannu.
