Netflix’s latest offering, The Crown Season 6, has experienced a massive drop in its viewership despite gaining the top spot in the platform’s streaming chart.
According to Netflix’s Global Top 10 list, the first volume of The Crown Season 6 debuted with 36.9 million hours of views. This figure establishes the sixth season at the top of the service’s streaming chart. But it is also very low compared to Season 5’s viewership record, which premiered with 107 million hours of views.
In terms of critical reception, Season 6’s position does not look good at all. Its first volume has become the lowest-rated ‘The Crown’ instalment on Rotten Tomatoes, with a ‘rotten’ rating of 54% (based on 61 reviews). Season 5 stands with a ‘fresh’ score of 71% (based on 101 reviews). These stats are enough to show that viewers are losing interest in Peter Morgan’s historical drama series.
The final season covers the key events associated with the Royal Family that took place between 1997 and 2005. Some of these key events include the demise of Diana, the premiership of Tony Blair, the relationship between Kate Middleton and Prince William, the wedding of Camilla Parker Bowles and Prince Charles, the death of Princess Margaret, and more.
The Crown Season 6 stars Imelda Staunton, Jonathan Pryce, Dominic West, Lesley Manville, Bertie Carvel, Olivia Williams, Elizabeth Debicki, and more. The first four episodes of the final season are available on Netflix, and the remaining episodes will premiere on December 14. Stay tuned for more updates.
