The Falcon and The Winter Soldier drops around the globe on Friday (wherever Disney+ or Disney+ affiliated OTTs are available) and it will release in four languages – English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu in India on Disney+ Hotstar. This Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Phase 4 web series is expected to tie in multiple plot lines as well as create new ones for the upcoming Marvel projects. So before you guys watch the web series tomorrow, here are some important plot points you guys need to know for this upcoming mini series:
Captain America’s Shield
This “weapon of choice” for the first Avenger has now been passed on to his good friend and comrade, Sam Wilson AKA The Falcon. The Shield has helped the Captain in many situations for over a decade and even in its broken form (when Thanos tore it apart), it still helped Cap in taking the fight to Thanos and his alien army.
Sam Wilson
This ex-United States Air Force Pararescue airman came out of retirement to help Captain America and stop Hydra from killing millions of people. With Steve Rogers having finally retired and the Avengers officially disbanded (we think), Sam is now at a crossroads. He can go back to a peaceful retirement or take up the shield that the Captain bequeathed him and stand up for those who cannot do it for themselves.
Bucky Barnes
Another man who is at a crossroads as well, but he finally has the choice to choose his path. Although Bucky is Steve’s oldest friend, he probably decided against giving Bucky the shield so that Bucky can be free and finally make his own decisions.
Sharon Carter
Sharon Carter or Agent 13 is not seen much other than in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War. Both movies give us a small character arc, but it shows her in-built right-or-wrong sense and how her aunt Peggy’s teachings have shaped her growth as an agent. As S.H.I.E.L.D. has been disbanded and we don’t think she was invited to join S.W.O.R.D. in this series (yet), so she might either have disappeared during the Blip or was doing her own version of a “Ronin” side gig.
Baron Helmut Zemo
This ex-Sokovian intelligence agent will return and although most of his plan (in the web series) is unclear, we know what he is after – vengeance against the Avengers after they accidentally killed his family while trying to stop Ultron from destroying the world. Zemo was in the custody of the CIA at the end of Captain America: Civil War, but we know that he was planning something if his plan didn’t come into fruition.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar tomorrow, on 19th March 2021.
