Sarpatta Parambarai – Tamil film, Amazon Prime Video
It is an explosive period drama, set in the backdrop of boxing. It is directed by Pa. Ranjit, and is headlined by Arya.
Kingdom: Ashin of the North – Netflix Original Special Episode
A special one-off episode from the much-loved Kingdom series, before Kingdom Season 3 arrives on Netflix. Kingdom: Ashin Of The North will act as a sidequel to the second season of Kingdom and will explore the backstory of Ashin, the mysterious character Lee Chang’s group encountered on their journey north to discover the origins of the infected.
Wrath Of Man – English film, Lionsgate Play
An action thriller, headlined by Jason Statham and directed by Guy Ritchie. Jason Statham plays a newly-appointed cash truck driver who foils a robbery attempt with expert marksmanship and precision combat skills. His qualities make his superiors question his background and his motive in taking up the job.
Ted Lasso Season 2 – English series, Apple TV Plus
The heartwarming and outrageously funny story of the unassuming, affable small-time football coach, Ted Lasso, who is unexpectedly recruited to coach an English Premier League team, AFC Richmond, despite having no experience in association football.
Natkhat, Hindi Film, Voot Select –
The critically acclaimed short film features Bollywood actress Vidya Balan who essays the role of a mother who teaches her seven-year-old son Sonu about gender equality in a predominantly patriarchal society after the boy casually confesses a horrible act that he committed. The film has a runtime of about 33 minutes.
Judas and the Black Messiah, English film, Amazon Prime Video
The double Academy Award-winning film was also a critics darling after its release earlier this year. Directed by Shaka King and featuring Daniel Kaluuya and Lakeith Stanfield in the lead roles, the film how William O’Neal becomes an FBI informant to betray and infiltrate the Chairman of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party Fred Hampton.
14 Phere – Hindi film, ZEE5 Premium
A comic caper revolving around the shenanigans of the Indian marriage scenario, it stars Vikrant Massey and Kriti Kharbanda, and is directed by Devanshu Kumar.
Jolt – English film, Amazon Prime Video
An action comedy, it is about a bouncer with an anger management problem, who goes on a revenge-fueled rampage after the murder of the first man she falls for. It is directed by Tanya Wexler and stars Kate Beckinsale, Bobby Cannavale, Laverne Cox, Stanley Tucci and Jai Courtney.
Feels Like Ishq – Hindi anthology, Netflix
An anthology of six short stories, all centred around the common theme of two strangers meeting, and falling in love at first sight. Six stellar directors helm the stories, supported by an eclectic ensemble cast.
Chutzpah – Hindi web series, SonyLIV
Chutzpah is Maddock Films’ entry into the OTT space. It is a fun and engaging series on the social media shenanigans of a bunch of young adults, and the internet world they inhabit – of hashtags, filters, likes, shares and subscribe! Chutzpah is a humour-filled story that showcases the world of social media and its influence over the youth of today.
Redemption Day, English film, Amazon Prime Video
Having just returned home, decorated U.S. Marine Captain Brad Paxton’s wife, Kate, is kidnapped by a terrorist group while working in Morocco. He is forced back into action for a daring and deadly operation to save the woman he loves.
Blood Red Sky – German film with English subtitles, Netflix
A horror thriller film centred on a woman with a hidden power, which she must unleash to save her child from the merciless killers who have hijacked their flight. Dominic Purcell (Prison Break) plays one of the hijackers.
Boss Level, English film, Book My Show
A former special forces agent is trapped in a time loop and relives his death over and over again. To escape the terrible situation, he must track down those responsible and stop them. It stars Frank Grillo, Mel Gibson, Naomi Watts, Will Sasso, Annabelle Wallis, Sheaun McKinney, Selina Lo, Michelle Yeoh, among others.
Biriyani, Malayalam film, Saina Play and Movie Saints –
A festival favourite, this hard-hitting Malayalam film is a sharp take on the suppression of female sexuality, the hypocrisy of religious tenets, patriarchy and all the other issues in conservative Kerala society. Though a difficult watch, it is a must-watch.
