The legendary director Martin Scorsese made the heads turn when he took his magnum opus project The Irishman to Netflix. Scorsese is a great believer in cinema and for him to take the decision was a big moment in Hollywood and a nod of approval for the rest.
The Irishman turned out to be a massive success for the Netflix, even though it failed to grab any awards. It looks like the association and freedom to make as per his vision is making Martin Scorsese approach digital giants again for his upcoming.
Martin Scorsese is making Killers Of The Flower Moon with his regular Leonardo DiCaprio next. It is currently actually produced by a studio (Paramount Pictures). But, the production house is not happy with the escalating budget of the movie.
Buzz is that Paramount has asked Martin Scorsese to find partners to share the burden as producers. It is why the director and his representatives are in talks with Netflix. They are also looking at Apple TV Plus. Besides the digital biggies, they are also looking at Universal and MGM.
Incidentally, Paramount was the production house behind The Irishman. It is after they cited budget issues and put their hand’s up that Netflix took over the project.
Given the immense critical acclaim and success of the period gangster drama, Paramount doesn’t want to repeat the same mistake. It is why they are not letting Killers Of The Flower Moon go, and are open to sharing it with others.
