“The Crown” created by Peter Morgan premiered on Netflix in 2016, gave an in-depth account of early years of Queen Elizabeth || reign in its initial first two seasons.
Last year in November released the third season with Olivia Colman as the Queen, Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret and covers the time period of 1960’s and 1970’s where the government changes and family issues increased rapidly.
A release date for the upcoming fourth season hasn’t been announced yet, but it will have reappearance by Olivia Colman and Helena Bonham Carter that will take us through Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s relationship and will also introduce Margaret Thatcher played by Gillian Anderson (Hannibal, Sex Education).
Peter Morgan had announced earlier that the series will span out till the fifth season itself. It was announced this week that the royals will actually be coming back for a final sixth season.
“As we started to discuss the storylines for series five, it soon became clear that in order to do justice to the richness and complexity of the story, we should go back to the original plan and do six seasons,” show creator Peter Morgan told The Hollywood Reporter.
The torch will be passed to Imelda Staunton (Downton Abbey, Sense and Sensibility) as Queen Elizabeth || and Lesley Manville (Phantom Thread, Ordinary Love) as Princess Margaret for seasons five and six.
