The Unreleased Status Of Naragasooran & These Other Tamil Films Lingers On & On!

By Binged Bureau - Feb 13, 2021 @ 08:02 pm

The news of the upcoming release of long-delayed Tamil horror film Nenjam Marappathillai has delighted fans of Tamil cinema. The film, written and directed by Selvaraghavan, has been languishing without a release for five years. But now, in a happy turn of events, Nenjam Marappathillai is finally set to release in theatres on 5th March.

The news set us thinking about several other much-publicised films that have been stuck in the cans for a while; films that deserve a decent release, so that they can be watched and appreciated by discerning viewers.

And there are a few films that fans have been rooting for like forever. Whose unreleased status lingers on, and on, and on…..

These are a few Tamil films that we want released now — doesn’t matter whether in theatres or on OTT; just release them NOW!

Here goes –

Dhruva Natchathiram –

That Dhruva Natchathiram is written and directed by auteur Gautham Menon is reason enough to make it one of the most anticipated films of recent times. That it is a spy thriller shot in seven countries, with a delectable ensemble cast of Vikram, Ritu Varma, Aishwarya Rajesh, Radhika Sarathkumar, Simran Bagga , R. Parthiepan and Sathish Krishnan makes it an even more interesting proposition. In development since early 2017, it is one film all of us are waiting breathlessly for.

Naragasooran –

Tamil film Naragasooran is directed by popular director Karthick Naren. It is a thriller film, and the second film in Naren’s “thriller thrilogy”, the first one being Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru, a hit neo noir crime thriller. That itself makes it a movie worth watching out for. The ensemble cast of Arvind Swami, Shriya Saran, Sundeep Kishan, Aathmika and Indrajith Sukumaran is intriguing. Naragasooran is easily the most anticipated film out of all, but no one seems to be interested in releasing it. The movie’s been ready since 2018. Which is a pity really. Depriving audiences of a seemingly must-watch film is just not done! Release it now, guys!

Server Sundaram –

Written and directed by Anand Balki, and produced by J. Selvakumar, Server Sundaram is an innovative comedy film that stars Santhanam and Vaibhavi Shandilya in the leading roles. Santhanam plays an aspiring caterer in the film, with hilarious consequences. That is also why fans want to watch the movie ASAP! It’s been in development since 2015 – long enough time to plan its release for sure!

Sathuranga Vettai 2 –

Sathuranga Vettai 2 is a Tamil heist movie, don’t we all just love heist thrillers! It is written by H. Vinoth and directed by Nirmal Kumar. Even more interesting, it is a sequel of sorts to Vinoth’s earlier Sathuranga Vettai. The cast is interesting – Arvind Swamy and Trisha in the lead roles, with Prakash Raj and Nassar in supporting roles. And it’s been in production since October 2016. So, what in God’s name are we waiting for! Just release it already!

Idam Porul Yaeval –

Idam Porul Yaeval stars the God of acting – Vijay Sethupathi himself! Directed by Seenu Ramasamy and produced by N. Lingusamy, it also stars Vishnu Vishal, Aishwarya Rajesh and Nandita Swetha in crucial roles. How dare the makers keep a Vijay Sethupathi film from us since – gasp – 2014!

Kadaisi Vivasayi –

Though Kadaisi Vivasayi has Vijay Sethupathi playing a pivotal cameo and Yogi Babu in a pivotal role, the Tamil is a comedy drama that centres on an eighty-five-year-old farmer named Nallandi – the man also plays the lead in the film. Written and directed by M. Manikandan, the film has music by the legendary Illaiya Raja. It is produced by Eros International, a company with deep pockets. So why not just release the film, eh?

Rocky –

A Tamil gangster drama is always a welcome watch. Rocky is just that. It is written and directed by Arun Matheswaran, and features Vasanth Ravi and Raveena Ravi as leads. Bharathiraja and Rohini play crucial roles, especially Bharathiraja. Sounds like a super interesting film, what say? If only it releases!
