The Wilds is a story of a group of teenage girls that come from different backgrounds and are forced to fight for their survival together after they are stranded on a deserted island. They are forced to leave their everyday lives behind but were their normal lives even worth it.
Living the life of a teenager which is filled with so many anxieties and expectations about the future is not necessarily easy especially when you feel that those around you are always judging based on how good you are in some things.
The Wilds takes you on a ride and though it seems deeply reminiscent of the famous series ‘Lost’ it takes us on a ride of how teenagers have to navigate through several unseen obstacles. Sometimes a break from this unforgiving world can be just the thing that you require, but that doesn’t mean that you should always run away at the first sign of trouble.
Trauma and anxiety know no background; it doesn’t see caste or religion; it doesn’t see gender or creed. In this case, it also helps form the key that joins this group of castaways as you cannot always run away from your feeling and just embracing them can be the best things in a while.
There is one twist to this thrilling saga and which is that these girls didn’t end up on this island by mistake. The Wilds not only form the crux of an engaging teen and survival drama but also highlights some of the glaring issues that we see in today’s youth.
