Anasuya‘s Thank You Brother is the only Telugu film that has skipped its theatrical release and surfaced on OTT in the COVID second wave so far. Another small film, Ek Mini Katha also closed a deal with Amazon Prime Video and the official announcement is expected any time now. On the other side, we hear one more film is trying to find a buyer in the OTT space.
Megastar Chiranjeevi’s son-in-law, Kalyaan Dhev‘s second film, Super Machi is the film. The makers are in talks at least with three OTT players to have a direct online release but nothing has been confirmed yet. Directed by debutant Puli Vasu and produced by Rizwan, Super Machi has been in production since October 2019. It has been lying in cans for various reasons and the makers have come to a conclusion that OTT release will be the best for them.
It is for the delay in the movie production and the fact that Kalyaan Dhev’s debut film, Vijetha being a flop, the OTT players are in two minds on the negotiations table, we are told. Super Machi also marks the debut of Kannada’s popular actress Rachita Ram into Telugu. Kalyaan Dhev already moved on to the shooting of his next film.
