Ajay Devgn’s Maidaan will wait for the cinema to reopen for its theatrical release. This pandemic and lockdown has led a number of filmmakers to opt for OTT platforms to save themselves from any further economic losses but Boney Kapoor (one of the producers of this film) has different ideas.
In a recent interview, Boney Kapoor said that throughout his career, all his films have been on the big screen and he wishes to walk on the same path for this upcoming project as well. “These are extraordinary times that none of us globally have witnessed before. Talking about the movies, if a certain producer is ready with his/her film and can’t afford to wait (for the situation to settle and reopening of theatres) the OTT platforms can be a big blessing for them as they can easily recover costs,” said the producer. He has three films- Maidaan, Valimai (Tamil) and Vakeel Saab (Telugu) in line.
Maidaan is an Indian biopic on Syed Abdul Rahim, a football coach who took the Indian team to semi-finals of the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Football Tournament and unlocked an achievement. He is also known as the architect of football. Ajay will play Syed’s character and this film also includes Priyamani. By releasing his first look poster Ajay has left his fans more eager than they initially were and has added to their excitement.
The film is set to release in November 2020 and we hope it does not get postponed any further!
