Loved ‘RRR’ and the ‘Baahubali’ films of S.S. Rajamouli and want to see more of his work? Then you are in luck. One of his most celebrated works is coming to Netflix in a short while. A landmark project at the time when it was released, this 2012 film will not disappoint you.
We are talking about the Telugu language film ‘Eega’. The movie starred Nani( Shyam Singha Roy, Jersey), Sudeepa (Vikrant Rona, Dabangg 3), and Samantha( Mahanati, Super Deluxe) and was of the fantasy action genre. The story for the film reportedly developed from a conversation that the maverick director had with father and top scriptwriter V. Vijayendra Prasad when the latter joked about the idea of a fly seeking revenge against a human. A huge critical and commercial success, the film went on to win two National Awards and numerous other accolades.
The film’s narrative is in the form of a bedtime story told by a father to his daughter. Its protagonist named Nani(played by Nani), who is in love with his neighbor Bindu( Samantha), is murdered by a wealthy industrialist named Sudeep(Sudeepa), who is attracted to Bindu and considers Nani a rival. Nani reincarnates as a housefly and tries to avenge his death and protect Bindu from an obsessive Sudeep, forming the premise of the film. All actors’ performances were well received upon release, especially Sudeepa’s portrayal of the antagonist.
With fans internationally still on the ‘RRR’ craze especially since the Oscar season is coming near, the movie would be the perfect watch to enjoy another creation of the master storyteller that Rajamouli is. Let’s see if the film would receive the international attention that his last release on Netflix -‘RRR’- received.
