Top 10 Easter Eggs From Disney+ Hotstar’s WandaVision Episodes 3 & 4!

Top 10 Easter Eggs From Disney+ Hotstar’s WandaVision Episodes 3 & 4!

Okay, the last two episodes of Marvel’s WandaVision have been jam-packed with exposition (especially the fourth episode) and everyone has been losing their minds. Episode 4 of the Superhero miniseries dropped yesterday, on 29th January 2021 on Disney+ Hotstar Premium and we finally have an idea behind the whole 50s, 60s and 70s style sitcom situation that Wanda and Vision seem to have managed to find themselves in. The previous episode gave us the backstory of Monica Rambeau while also giving us a glimpse of people reappearing after Hulk snaps his fingers in Avengers: Endgame. But both third and fourth episode is filled with Easter eggs, references and call backs, so we are taking the 10 most significant ones which will probably be relevant in Marvel’s upcoming films/ web series:

Wanda’s Pregnancy
Wanda’s Pregnancy

Pretty much most of the references in the third episode of WandaVision is based off of comics and so are all of the four included in this list. In this case, this is a callback to the comics, when Wanda actually created her children with magic with the help of Mephisto – a literal demon lord, since Vision cannot conceive normally. She goes from thinking about having kids to giving birth to a pair of twins in a matter of hours. Mephisto is one of the more powerful characters in the Marvel Universe and there is a good chance that we could be seeing the introduction to another great villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Mephisto also enjoys collecting dead souls and would probably be reeling from the sudden loss of souls after Thanos’ snap got reversed. The demon could probably be controlling Wanda to get as many souls as possible to satisfy his losses or probably, even for revenge. Let’s see if this theory pans out.

Hydra Soak
Hydra Soak

A not-so-subtle reference to Hydra – S.H.I.E.L.D.’s arch-nemesis. But it has an even more subtler reference to a funny scene in the episode titled Framework from Marvel’s television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Also note, in this particular episode, the main characters of the television series are trapped in a simulated training program (see another reference here?). But this is also a second reference to Hydra in WandaVision which leads us to believe there is a possible Hydra resurgence happening in an upcoming Marvel project.

Tommy and Billy

Tommy and Billy

Tommy and Billy are Wanda’s kids who were magical constructs in the comics, who eventually ceased to exist. We think that is most likely what will happen to these kids as well, but since the trailer showed us the Mind stone, there will probably be forces that could force a change in a less somber direction for both Wanda and Vision. Only time will tell now.

Gerldine’s Peculiar Necklace Pendant
Gerldine’s Peculiar Necklace Pendant

We have been seeing this particular symbol since episode two, but its re-emergence tells us that the symbol is definitely going to play a much bigger and important role and so is Geraldine. As many Marvel fans know, the symbol is a reference to S.W.O.R.D. which is in an intergalactic version of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Maria ‘’Photon” Rambeau
Maria ‘’Photon” Rambeau

This is a small easter egg, but a pretty significant one if played right by Marvel Studios (let’s face it, they have the whole thing mapped out). Photon is the name of Monica Rambeau’s superhero alter ego in the comics, where she is actually another version of Captain Marvel. She eventually changes her name to Photon, to make a name for herself, and that makes this reference a brilliant one. Hopefully we will get to see Monica suit up as Photon in the future.

Introducing S.W.O.R.D. Properly Into The MCU
Introducing S.W.O.R.D. Properly Into The MCU

After getting glimpses of S.W.O.R.D. in the first few episodes of WandaVision, the fourth episode of the series properly introduces the series to us, with us meeting finding out about the founder of the intergalactic space force as well as the new director. S.W.O.R.D. stands for Sentient Weapon Observation and Response Division, another long-drawn-out name organisation similar to S.H.I.E.L.D. As we move forward in further MCU projects, we expect S.W.O.R.D. to be pretty prevalent in a major amount of them.

The Return Of Darcy Lewis
The Return Of Darcy Lewis

Remember Jane Foster’s Intern? From Thor? Well Darcy has grown up and received a PHD all on her own – in the field of astrophysics. She immediately has an impact when she turns up in the series and we expect the character to stick around – not just in WandaVision but also in other upcoming Marvel projects – most likely Thor: Love and Thunder.

Beekeeper And Toy Helicopter Reveal Explained
Beekeeper And Toy Helicopter Reveal Explained

We now understand that the Beekeeper’s outfit and the toy helicopter shown in the second episode of WandaVision are actually an agent in a Hazmat suit and a surveillance drone – both sent in by S.W.O.R.D. The fourth episode is slowly tying up some loose ends, but also giving us more questions about the limited series. We expect to see more such references as well as an explanation to why the change in reality happened that caused the hazmat suit and drone to turn into a beekeeper’s suit and a toy helicopter respectively.

CMBR
CMBR

CMBR – Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation. Darcy explains that there were high levels of CMB radiation emanating from the direction of the town of Westview, but the CMBR reference is an important one for us – it is the cosmic radiation that gives the Fantastic Four their powers. And with Fantastic Four slated as the last movie to come out as part of Marvel’s Phase Four (which will happen in 2023 or 2024), we expect CMBR (and S.W.O.R.D.) to play a heavy role in their creation (and movie).

Cosmic Energy is also a reference to the upcoming Eternals as well, as most of the characters from The Eternals wield cosmic energy. But we expect CMBR to mainly be a foreshadowing to The Fantastic Four. Similar to Bruce Banner subtle reference to Black Panther in Avengers: Age of Ultron when he said the words “Wakanada …Wakanda”

Agnes
Agnes

You guys may have noticed, Agnes is the only “character” unaccounted for in the board set up by F.B.I. Agent Jimmy Woo (He himself brings a buttload of easter eggs and references into the show by-the-way). And many hardcore Marvel fans (us included) think that is because she isn’t a resident of Westview – instead she is a witch by the name of Agatha Harkness. For the people who do not know who Agatha is, she is a powerful witch who becomes Wanda’s teacher in the comics, teaching her how to manipulate and use her powers. According to us, we think Agatha might have gotten under Wanda’s (or whoever is controlling Wanda) spell and she can’t either break free or she can’t remember who she is.

Plus Agnes is her name spelt short – (Ag)atha Hark(nes)s. And we also get to see Agnes in a witch’s costume in many teasers and trailers dropped by Disney+ Hotstar, so we expect this to be the introduction to another major MCU character.
