The trailer for Amazon Original Movie ‘A Call To Spy‘ is out now. The film is set during the World War II and is inspired by true stories. ‘A Call To Spy’ is a historical war drama and is set to release on Amazon Prime Video on 11th December, 2020.
The trailer begins with a few shots of Nazi soldiers guarding and marching in France and from there the trailer takes the viewers to the London of 1941. Vera Atkins (Stana Katic) is assigned the task of recruiting and training female spies to gather information about France as women will be more inconspicuous. The orders have been issued by Winston Churchill who is desperate about getting the information.
The recruits to this new spy agency known as Special Operations Executive (SEO) include – Virginia Hall (Sarah Megan Thomas), a woman with a wooden leg and Noor Inayat Khan (Radhika Apte), believed to be the best wireless operator in the women’s auxiliary air force.
Their training includes learning how to kill or rather how to survive which puts Noor in a dilemma as she is a Muslim pacifist. But the mission needs it and she has to learn it. Virginia, who is staged as a journalist, becomes the first field agent and needs to be very careful even of the common people. On the other hand, Noor sets up electrical system to tap messages transmitted.
Meanwhile the ruthless Nazis are somehow getting information of the secret missions against them and are in search of the spies in their territory. And thereafter it’s all about completing the target mission and not getting caught however difficult it gets.
The official synopsis for ‘A Call To Spy’ reads, “In the beginning of WWII, with Britain becoming desperate, Churchill orders his new spy agency — the Special Operations Executive (SOE) — to recruit and train women as spies. Their daunting mission: conduct sabotage and build a resistance. SOE’s “spymistress,” Vera Atkins (Stana Katic), recruits two unusual candidates: Virginia Hall (Sarah Megan Thomas), an ambitious American with a wooden leg, and Noor Inayat Khan (Radhika Atpe), a Muslim pacifist. Together, these women help to undermine the Nazi regime in France, leaving an unmistakable legacy in their wake.”
The stellar cast of the Amazon Original Movie includes Sarah Megan Thomas, Stana Katic, Radhika Apte, Linus Roache, Rossif Sutherland, Samuel Roukin, Andrew Richardson, Laila Robins, Marc Rissmann and Mathilde Ollivier. ‘A Call To Spy’ is the international début of Radhika Apte.
‘A Call To Spy’ has been directed by Lydia Dean Pilcher. Sarah Megan Thomas who stars in the film has also written and produced the Amazon Original Movie. The film had received critical acclaim on its release abroad and is now set to premiere in India on Amazon Prime Video.
‘A Call To Spy’ will launch on Amazon Prime Video on 11th December 2020.
