Amazon Prime Video‘s next big bollywood release ‘Coolie No. 1’s’ trailer is out now and it’s a full on no-brainer masala entertainer. It is a remake of the Govinda and Karishma Kapoor starrer 1995 comedy-drama of the same name. ‘Coolie No. 1’ will premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on 25th December, 2020.
Coolie No. 1 brings back the comedy genre of the 90s but with a bit of a modern twist. Paresh Rawal plays the role of a father who wants the richest man of India as his son-in-law and that search leads him to a Prince named Kumar Raj Pratap Singh who is actually Raju, the porter, who deceives him by masquerading himself as a wealthy man who owns properties like none other such as Asia’s biggest port and Burj Khalifa among others.
In all this Raju is assisted by Javed Jaffrey’s character. Though there comes a moment when he gets caught but tries to bring the twin theory at play and continues to con Rawal’s character. Meanwhile, Raju is seen romancing and dancing with Rawal’s daughter played by bollywood’s fresh face Sara Ali Khan.
All in all ‘Coolie No. 1‘ is a typical bollywood masala movie which has moments that will make you laugh, make you groove to its dance numbers, with a little bit of action here and there and is supposed to be watched without applying logic or reasoning of any sort. It’s sole purpose is to entertain and it will be interesting to see if it lives up to the expectations given the success of the original.
‘Coolie No. 1’ (2020) is David Dhawan’s 45th film as a director and was initially meant for a theatrical release but the pandemic led restrictions made the filmmakers take the OTT route.
The film stars Varun Dhawan, Sara Ali Khan, Paresh Rawal, Javed Jaffrey, Rajpal Yadav, Johnny Lever, Sahil Vaid and Shikha Talsania among others. Coolie No. 1 is a Pooja Entertainment franchise and has been produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani and Deepshikha Deshmukh.
