A highly anticipated Tamil action thriller is releasing directly for streaming on an OTT platform. This upcoming feature film is titled ‘Mahaan‘ and it will premiere on Amazon Prime Video next week. The trailer for the action-thriller dropped on the official YouTube channel of Amazon Prime Video India and the film will feature the father-son duo, Vikram and Dhruv Vikram. While this will be the first time that Vikram and Dhruv will be leading a film together, it is also going to be the first time that a father-son duo will lead an Indian film releasing directly for streaming.
There have been some iconic father-son film appearances made over the years – Will Smith and Jaden Smith, Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan, Ben Stiller and Jerry Stiller, to name a few. However, there hasn’t been one released directly for streaming, not in Indian cinema at least. Well, that is going to change with ‘Mahaan‘.
The aforementioned film will be the first direct-to-OTT released Tamil film that will feature a father and son as the lead characters. ‘Mahaan’ will also be the first direct-to-OTT released Indian feature to have real-life father-son actors play the lead roles. And as far as we can tell (from the previously mentioned trailer), Vikram and Dhruv will play a father-and-son duo on-screen. The film is written and directed by the brilliant Karthik Subbaraj.
Vikram’s ‘Mahaan’ will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on February 10th 2022.
