Kartik Aryan’s ‘Shehzada’ is all set to have its theatrical release on the 10th of this February. Fans are excited and there is a huge hype around the movie. Taking the success of Kartik Aryan’s last two movies into consideration, we can assume that ‘Shehzada’ too will have a good response from audiences. Bhool Bhulaiyya 2 and Freddy were well-appreciated by audiences and fans lauded the actor’s performances too.
But ‘Shehzada’ is the remake of Allu Arjun’s 2020 superhit film ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo’. Ala Vaikunthapurramullo is a comedy action drama and did very good business at the box office. The film had a huge hype in the northern belt of India. The Hindi dubbed version of the movie is still available on Youtube. We have seen in recent days that the movies that are being remade in Bollywood and still have the Hindi dubbed version of it available to watch are not doing quite well at the box office.
Pushkar and Gayathri’s ‘Vikram Vedha’ remake did not work up to the expectations and flopped very badly. The movie was very well made and the performances, technical elements, and music as very admirable. Yet it did not do good business; one of the reasons for the failure was the Hindi version of the original Tamil ‘Vikram Vedha’ still being available to watch on OTT platforms. Akshay Kumar’s ‘Cuttputtli’ too was a disaster at the box office and we all know how well Ratsasan, the Hindi version of the Tamil movie ‘Ratchasan’, was accepted and loved by audiences of North India too. The same happened with Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Jersey’ too.
Drishyam 2, on the other hand, did a spectacular business at the box office. It was a remake too, but there was no Hindi audio for the movie available anywhere. The majority of the audiences like to watch any movie in a language they are comfortable in and subtitles are not very convenient to them. Not having any Hindi dubs helped the overall business of Drishyam 2.
We hope that these factors do not affect ‘Shehzada’ too much and as Kartik Aryan’s fans are hoping, it turns out to be a box office success even though the dubbed Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo has a great popularity.
