Many of you may have noticed, Disney+ Hotstar is ready to try their luck with another Mollywood direct-to-OTT release, ‘Bro Daddy‘. The streaming platform’s first Malayalam direct-to-OTT released venture, ‘Kanakam Kaamini Kalaham’, failed to impress critics and it didn’t do well among the OTT subscribers either. While it is surprising (and disappointing) that a Nivin Pauly, Jaffer Idukki and Vinay Forrt featuring film can do this badly, Disney+ Hotstar haven’t given up. They have managed to secure the streaming rights of the aforementioned ‘Bro Daddy’, which is being made by the “Lucifer 3”.
“Lucifer 3”, you ask? Well, let us explain. This film features three prominent figures from the Malayalam 2019 super hit film, ‘Lucifer’ – Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Antony Perumbavoor. ‘Lucifer’ is the highest-grossing Malayalam movie to date – having made over Rs. 200 crores in the international box office. While doing so, ‘Lucifer’ became the first Malayalam film to cross Rs. 200 crores in earnings. And it was thanks to the combined efforts of these three filmmakers.
Prithviraj Sukumaran directed ‘Lucifer’ and he is returning to direct ‘Bro Daddy’ as well. Mohanlal is the film lead in ‘Lucifer’ who will be playing one of the leads in ‘Bro Daddy’ as well. And Antony Perumbavoor is producing both films. On top of all this, Prithviraj Sukumaran who played a supporting role in ‘Lucifer’ will also be playing one of the film leads in ‘Bro Daddy’ as well. Antony Perumbavoor is also set to make a cameo appearance in the upcoming ‘Bro Daddy’, similar to his appearance in the aforementioned 2019 political thriller.
The highly anticipated Malayalam family feature, ‘Bro Daddy’ will premiere directly for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar on Republic Day, January 26th 2022.
