The Will Smith starring biopic, ‘King Richard’ was released in theatres and HBO Max in select countries yesterday. While the film couldn’t match up against its box office rivals, ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’, the film has slowly been garnering acclaim from critics and audience members. With many praising the likes of Will Smith and Aunjanue Ellis, the biopic has become a must-watch feature overnight. Now, only one thing remains – in which OTT platform will ‘King Richard’ stream in India?
Most Warner Bros. productions are released for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar in India. However recently, HBOMax releases seem to be streaming on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video as well (for India). Still, we expect this movie to drop in Disney+ Hotstar in India before 2022 rolls around.
This Warner Bros. Pictures produced feature film is based on the upbringing of tennis legends, Serena Williams and Venus Williams as well as their father and coach, Richard Williams. He recognized his daughters’ capabilities in the sport quite early and was determined to get them etched into the history books. The film follows Will Smith who portrays Richard as he helps the young girls hone their instincts and keep them committed to Tennis. Together, they go onto achieve something that no one saw coming.
‘King Richard‘ is an emotional beast. It strikes the right chords and keep you goued to the seats, even during the unbearable parts. Will Smith seems determined more than ever to win an Oscar and this movie should, at the very least, land him a nomination. He and Aunjanue Ellis are the best parts of this film and whichever OTT platform manages to land the streaming rights for this movie in India, will have landed a winner.
