Why Shershaah’s Love Story Is Absolutely Meant To Be In Bollywood?

Why Shershaah’s Love Story Is Absolutely Meant To Be In Bollywood?

The nation is buzzing with the news of “Shershaah” coming in on Amazon Prime Video on the 12th of August. Fans are waiting patiently for “Shershaah” to finally drop. The buzz that is being made is intense and it definitely needs it. The story of Captain Vikram Batra is something that cannot be ignored and from the looks of it, “Shershaah” looks like the movie that will do full justice to what kind of person he was on and off the battlefield. Everything about Captain Vikram Batra was phenomenal, and one thing in particular that was phenomenal will play a main role in the movie.

Normally in a war movie, fans don’t want to witness any kind of love stories, and that is why we believe “Uri: The Surgical Strike ” was a great hit in recent times in the war genre. But Shershaah isn’t like that. Shershaah’s one main story definitely has to be the love story of his and this is already proven with the songs that have been released. Both these songs are love songs, and it is quite unusual for a war movie to have more than one song now-a-days. So what was so special about this love story?

If one has to say, they will definitely say that Vikram Bhatt and his lover Dimple Cheema’s story is one to be cherished forever and one that can easily turn into a movie of itself. Dimple Cheema and Vikram Bhatt never got to marry each other, sadly. But in the time they were together, they had found their soulmates in each other. Dimple Cheema has been known by everyone as one exemplary woman, who didn’t give up on her love even after Captain Vikram Batra was martyred. She was young and people expected her to marry and maybe move on, but that was not for her. Dimple Cheema at that age and time, decided she won’t ever get married and decided to live as his widow.

This in fact in itself is extraordinary. One doesn’t get to see this everyday, these kinds of love stories are something that Bollywood has given us and not the other way around. In an interview, once Dimple Cheema mentioned how Captain Vikram Batra called her Mrs. Batra, even though they weren’t married. Apparently, whenever they went to Gurudwara, Captain Batra would hold her scarf as she led him, while they circled around the auspicious holy book. In Punjabi wedding culture, when the woman leads the husband in the wedding it is called “parikrama” and Captain Batra told her that it was their third time and it almost felt like they got married at that point.

This was a small detail and it seemed it could have been omitted from the movie, but looks like it wasn’t. This was shown in the recently released song “Ranjha” and maybe the love story will be told exactly the way it was, without any omission and without any extra addition, just the perfect story. But this wasn’t enough for Captain Batra, even though he probably loved Dimple Cheema with all his life, he loved his nation a bit more and that is the reason why the nation hails him as a hero today.

The war story definitely will be one that will shake everyone but in a war movie, this time the lovestory will also be the one that will move everyone. Now, we just have to wait till 12th and see how the movie depicts both his sacrifice in his war and the love story he shared with the love of his life, Dimple Cheema. No wonder, even today, she goes on to say how she wished he would be here to see all this happening as a tribute and celebration of his career and life.
