Telugu film, Uppena is one of the most-hyped films released in the industry after the Pandemic. Despite having newcomers in the lead roles, the movie created a massive pre-release buzz with its extraordinary songs. The movie was ready for release in the Summer of last year. The makers have got several offers to release the film on OTT but they managed to resist the temptation.
Finally, the movie released in theaters today and has got a decent response. Meanwhile, Netflix has bagged the post-release theatrical rights of the film. The OTT major has been displayed as the Digital partner in the film’s rolling titles. Usually, Netflix does not rush into streaming films immediately after their theatrical run. This is in contrast to the strategy of its rival, Amazon Prime Video which pays a premium to an early digital release.
But there are people who say the theatrical run of the films is getting impacted as the audience tends to wait to watch such films on OTT other than spending money in theaters. So, Netflix has become a better option for at least big-budget films. Uppena stars Panja Vaishnav Tej, Krithi Shetty and is directed by Buchibabu Sana. All three of them are making their debuts with this movie.
