With streaming platforms like Amazon Prime Video, HBO and ZEE5 opening up their content library to offer free content to watch for people locked at home, it’s now the turn of video-sharing platform, YouTube, to do the same.
YouTube announced that it is making several of its premium shows free to watch for viewers across the world. These shows are otherwise available only under its YouTube Originals category, which is a paid-subscription based category.
It is a commendable move from YouTube as part of its #StayAtHome initiative. The shows that have been made available to stream for a limited time include popular shows such as Escape the Night, which is also the longest-running and one of the most popular shows on YouTube Premium. All four seasons of the reality horror and murder mystery show are available free for streaming. The fifth season of the show is in the works. Another popular show removed from the paid firewall is both seasons of dance-focused drama show, Step Up: High Water (Seasons 1-2), which has Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan as executive producers, and some brilliant dance moves.
Other shows available are comedy drama, Me and My Grandma; both seasons of Sci-fi thriller, Impulse; season 1 and 2 of romantic comedy, Foursome; besides Sideswiped, Matpat’s Game Lab, Overthinking with Kat & June, Re:Set and The Fake Show.
YouTube has also made available several kids series to keep kids happy. Sherwood has already begun to stream. We Are Savvy, Hyperlinked, Fruit Ninja Frenzy Force and Kings of Atlantis will become free to stream in the coming days.
