The Dhurandhar franchise has emerged as one of the biggest OTT success stories in recent times, with both films delivering extraordinary results on different streaming platforms. While Dhurandhar Part 1 created a global impact on Netflix, Dhurandhar: The Revenge turned into a record-breaking domestic streaming event on JioHotstar.
Dhurandhar Part 1 enjoyed a strong theatrical run before finding a second life on Netflix. The film’s performance on the platform was exceptional. It climbed to the number one position on Netflix’s Global Top 10 Non-English Movies chart and stayed in the global rankings for 10 weeks. The achievement becomes even more impressive when one considers the film’s runtime of 3 hours and 26 minutes. During the week of January 26 to February 1, 2026 alone, the film registered 7.6 million views and generated 26.1 million hours watched worldwide. Mind you, the film dropped on Netflix on January 30. That means we only have 3 days of data that is giving us 7.6 million views. For a lengthy Part 1 film to sustain that level of engagement over several weeks is rare.
If the first film became a global OTT phenomenon, Dhurandhar: The Revenge transformed into a national streaming event. Precisely because the International OTT release date was already a huge blockbuster about 20 days ago. The sequel debuted on JioHotstar and attracted a staggering 50 million viewers within its opening weekend. The platform also revealed that the film’s digital audience was nearly five times larger than its theatrical opening weekend reach. Streaming in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada, the film connected with audiences across regions and demographics.
One of the most striking aspects of the sequel’s performance was viewing behaviour. According to JioHotstar, 60 per cent of the total watch time came through Connected TV devices. This suggests that the film was consumed as a shared household experience, with families and groups watching together on television screens rather than individually on mobile devices.
The comparison between the two films reveals two different forms of OTT success. Dhurandhar Part 1 demonstrated remarkable longevity and global reach on Netflix, staying relevant for weeks and attracting millions of viewers worldwide. Dhurandhar: The Revenge, on the other hand, delivered explosive scale within India, generating 50 million viewers in just a few days and becoming a cultural event on JioHotstar.
