What Is the Story About?

Ravi (Abhay Simha), Vamshi (Krishna Burugula) and Teju (Charan Sai) are childhood friends. All through schooling and later, they were busy with studies with the only goal to go to the US to continue it further and settle in life.

One of their friends, a cousin, returns from the US for a vacation to India. He tells the difficulties of being a virgin graduate in the US and asks his friends to grow up before coming. What Ravi, Vamshi and Teju do, and how it affects their life forms the crux of the movie’s plot.

Performances?

Aha Video Crrush Telugu Movie ReviewAbhay Simha, Krishna Burugula, and Charan Sai playing the parts of the three friends are apt for the respective roles. They aren’t particularly expressive, but they are alright for the given content. Among the three, Abhay Simha is the ‘hero’. He gets additional drama to do but is not that effective. Krishna Burugula stands out due to the situations he lands in and his track more than his act. Charan Sai, too, sails on the same boat with a scene or two highlighting his funny and jovial side.

Analysis

Ravi Babu helms Crrush. It is his return to romance and love after a gap. The director has lost his plot in recent years. Crrush is a further extension of the same situation.

Ravi Babu is trying to recreate what worked for him in the past across genres. However, he has failed to do so on previous occasions. Crrush is a similar attempt. Here he goes back to his tried and tested and successful romantic genre. Of course, it comes with an extra dose of eroticism, now.

The problem for Ravi Babu is apparent from the start itself. There is nothing wrong in the making, reflecting his style, but it is the content where the difference crops up. Despite the best efforts to spice things up, it comes across as stale.

Aha Video - Crrush Telugu Movie ReviewCrrush coming a few years ago might not get a similar feeling, but today the entire landscape of adult entertainment has changed. In the age of ‘Gandi Baat’ and similarly bold stuff, Crrush comes across as old and routine.

The comedy is still fine, even though nothing new. The drama is terrible. It is repetitive and drags endlessly. The main lead pair track, for example, is stretched beyond patience.

The other two subplots are akin to two sex fantasies. They have their moments in between, but nothing feels fresh. Everything has a ‘seen before quality to it. Add to it the unique director’s approach; the whole thing feels doubly predictable.

If it is any consolation, we must say Crrush, despite being a poor outing is still somewhat better than the last few attempts from the director.

Overall, Crrush is an erotic romantic comedy that has few funny moments. But, by and large, it is an outdated and boring outing for the audience’s sensibilities today.

Other Artists?

Ankita Manoj plays the main female lead. She looks lovely but doesn’t do well in dramatic portions. It is the naughty portions that make the best use of her. Parree Pande is not utilised much, whereas Sri Sudha is given a forgettable part.

Ram Ravipalli’s characterisation is good. It is a typical Ravibabu character if one has followed his filmography. Ram has done well in his part. Priyadarshini doesn’t get a similar scope and is alright. Kartheek Jairam is way over the top and hams like there is no end. Kotesh Manava gets something different than the usual and is okay. The rest are bits and pieces roles that don’t leave any impression.

Music and Other Departments?

Crrush Movie ReviewThe music by Vaidhhy is okay. A couple of songs do sound well, but that’s about it. The cinematography by N Sudhakar Reddy is poor. Some portions give TV serial vibe. The editing by Marthand K Venkatesh is fine. The dialogues are par for course for the genre.
