What Is the Story About?
The story is about a couple who are married after two weeks of knowing each other. They are to spend their first night but some goons get after that. The film is about the couple and their one night in Mumbai.
The goons are after someone called Charlie but the identity of Charlie becomes irrelevant in the overall narrative. We just enjoy the quirky night that the couple is stuck into.
Performances?
Yami Gautam is a decent actress. Pratik Gandhi hasn’t done much solo after his one time wonder “Scam 1992.”
There are not many other actors. Prateik Babbar and Eijaz Khan have a little screen time. But this is not the kind of film that demands challenging acting. The actors have delivered a decent performance. Prateik tries to look tense with his twisted eyebrows and Yami tries to look cool with no expression at all.
But these “not so good” acts don’t hurt you if you are not sitting there to be offended.
Analysis
One night of mess. That’s all the film is about. Bollywood has tried such things before. There was Chameli starring Kareena Kapoor. Then there was Raincoat, which was also in a similar fashion but with a lot of flashbacks.
So, there is nothing very new in the content. But that’s not at all a problem with the film. The problem is that it is too messy.
The characters are designed to be funny but somehow they are not. For instance, when there are gunned goons chasing the couple, Gandhi’s character Veer says, “I can’t drive fast; there will be a fine.”
Who says that?
And perhaps such a kind of comedy is not even funny anymore.
So what is the problem?
Well, the direction is fine. The problem is that of writing. It is just too bad.
The writer doesn’t bother to make it slightly believable and funny. You can predict everything and there won’t be any disappointment.
Somehow the writer thought that a passive man who can strip and a strong woman who can control any situation will go along very well. But they don’t.
There are totally unnecessary things, like a monologue by Yami against patriarchy in the middle of a chase. It doesn’t make any sense given the situation of the characters but that’s all the film is about. It doesn’t make any sense.
But the worst part has to be the ending. It is just too predictable. If you are a regular watcher of films then there is no way you can’t guess the ending.
The film doesn’t pull off any comedy.
It doesn’t thrill you.
It doesn’t have any drama that you would like to revisit.
Music and Other Departments?
Well, it is not a musically loaded film. But the music department is done just fine.
Shor Police is okay and the BGM surrounding the chase sequence is no different.
The cinematography is really well done and it adds some flavour to the otherwise boring chase sequence.

Predictability
Bad ending
