Through My Window – A Passable Sex-laden Love Story
BOTTOM LINE: A Passable Sex-laden Love Story

What Is the Story About?

Raquel (Clara Galle) is obsessed with Ares (Julio Pena), her wealthy neighbour. The latter is one of three heirs of Hidalgo’s who own Alpha 3, one of the country’s most powerful and influential companies.

How does the obsession turn into love between Raquel and Ares? Who opposes their love and why forms the basic plot of the movie.

Performances?

Julio Pena as Ares looks the part perfectly. He neatly portrays the switch from a slightly arrogant youngster to a genuine lover. When it comes to the acting, he starts ordinarily but gets better as the narrative progress. The best parts are the dramatic moments while recollecting the past or expressing how sorry he is to her girlfriend.

Analysis

Marcel Fores directs Through The Window. It is a familiar love story involving the class divide but told with a high dose of raging hormones thrown-in in equal measures.

The entire first act of the movie is devoted to sexual gratification after a brief introduction to the characters. There is hardly any story. The titillating scenes have some appeal, but ultimately one wants to see some narrative build.

When the story begins, it is as old as the hills. We have seen it for ages. There is hardly anything fresh in the class divide.

Amidst all this, there is a minor tweak via the dialogues, and that’s where the love story shows some promise and difference. The idea that love is weakness and that one could sleep with as many women as possible, but not love, has a fresh appeal. It is not explored, though, and we only get a cursory mention.

Barring the idea of love versus sex, intermittently, there is nothing new in the love story. We know how it will end, and there is no change in it. The whole drama built towards the end is as predictable as it gets.

Overall, Through Your Window is a routine love story offering nothing new barring a brief segment. Give it a try if you are a sucker for romance; otherwise, stay away.

Other Artists?

More than Julio Pena, it is Clara Galle who shines. Be it the girl next door or the glamorous doll; she nails both sides. The chemistry part is easily the highlight, though. Clara Galle makes a superb pair with Julio Pena, and we get many glimpses of their hotness together.

Many artists are part of the movie, but none have a good memorable part. Some seem to be part only to mouth a line or two or have sex. Among the many, Guillermo Lasheras has a decent role. Noting new, but he does well. It is a typical third-person character in a triangular love story set up.

Music and Other Departments?

The background score and the choice of songs in the movie are excellent. It adds to the raunchiness shown on screen. Elias M Felix’s cinematography is par for the course for the subject. There is nothing exceptional here, but the work is enough to make it look richly presented. Veronica Callon’s editing is mostly sharp, but many parts still feel dragged, slackening the pace. The writing is regular, with no new insights barring the flashback and father’s perspective.
