If you guys loved watching Randeep Hooda kicking ass and taking names as the bold, fearless super cop Avinash Mishra in JioHotstar’s Inspector Avinash, then get ready. You will soon witness him doing the same and delivering impactful, crisp dialogues in theatres.
Thanks to the massive success of Season 2, Neeraj Pathak (the series’ writer and director) has confirmed that Inspector Avinash will get a proper feature film adaptation.
As per Hindustan Times, Pathak confirmed the transition. Instead of a third season, we are getting a movie. The director revealed that he plans to take the story to theatres “for a big-screen experience.”
Moving a successful OTT show to theatres is becoming an exciting new trend in India, especially after the announcement of a Mirzapur movie. So, it only makes sense that the Inspector Avinash team is planning to do the same.
Pathak revealed that even though they initially made it as an OTT show, they always filmed it with a grand, cinematic vision. Now, before making a third season, they want to give fans a high-octane theatrical experience.
The series is based on the real life of Avinash Mishra, a legendary police officer from Uttar Pradesh who was part of the Special Task Force (STF) and Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). Because his real-life career was packed with so many dangerous missions, the creators have plenty of stories to choose from.
In fact, the team is currently working on three different scripts at the same time. Within the next two weeks, they will lock in the best story to shoot first.
While core cast members like Urvashi Rautela, Amit Sial, and Abhimanyu Singh have been vital to the show’s success, the director hinted that the movie will feature a mix of familiar faces and exciting new characters. Get ready to grab your popcorn, Avinash Mishra is coming to a theatre near you!
Stay tuned for more updates. Meanwhile, you guys can watch Inspector Avinash on JioHotstar.
